Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation has committed to develop a state-of-the-art, high-performance training facility and coaching & producing world-class badminton coaches and players, in the process helping India win more medals and international trophies.
The foundation through the Academy has also been instrumental in conducting world class badminton events like the India Open Grand Prix 2009, the BWF World Badminton Championship 2009 and Badminton Asia Team Championship 2016.
Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy (PGBA) was founded in 2004 by Pullela Gopichand, an All England Open Badminton Champion. The academy is recognized by the Ministry of Sports, Sports Authority of India (SAI), and the Badminton Association of India (BAI).
The facility has trained several worlds’ leading badminton players such as P. V. Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Srikanth Kidambi, Parupalli Kashyap, H.S. Prannoy, Sai Praneeth, Sameer Verma and many others.
The foundation through the Academy has also been instrumental in conducting world class badminton events like the India Open Grand Prix 2009, the BWF World Badminton Championship 2009 and Badminton Asia Team Championship 2016.
The academy has international standards infrastructure and academy courts are used as practice venue for various championships.
All the Top World Class Players Like Lee Chong Wee, Lin Dan, Taufiq Hiyadat, Peter Gade, Wang Xin, Shixian Wang, Tine Baun, Carolina Marine, Sung Ji Hyun, Ratchanok Ithanon and many other players have visited the academy during practice for World Championships.
The aim of the foundation is to:
Promote badminton in the country, develop world class training infrastructure across the country, identify, develop and nurture talent at the grass root level and is focused on providing full-time and long-term coaching to talented elite level players.
Our training programs are professionally designed by highly qualified coaches. Pullela Gopichand himself guides the team of coaches to tailor multi-tier training programs focusing international tournaments.
Apart from badminton training, training programs at academy also focus upon physical and mental wellness of the players.
Emotional well-being is important to any athlete’s success academically, athletically, socially and spiritually. Athletes should took pressure during trainings not during the tournaments as otherwise it will diminish their performance.
