Pullela Gopichand has been blessed with extremely supporting family including his parents Pullela Subhash Chandra & Pullela Subbaravamma, his brother Pullela Rajasekhar, his sister Hima Bindu, his wife P.V.V. Lakshmi, his daughter Gayatri Gopichand and his son Pullela Sai Vishnu.

During his childhood, his family has been his first school and has stood by him at every step. His brother introduced him to the game of badminton when he was more inclined towards cricket and his mother has made many sacrifices for him & still standing behind him.

His wife, a profound & established badminton player of her time has been a big support to him along with his mother and has been instrumental in helping him see his dream come true for his academy.
His children are taking his legacy forward by establishing their credentials in the game of badminton and bringing pride & glory to the family.

FAMILY

Pullela Gopichand is no different and has been blessed with exceptionally supporting parents, Mr. Pullela Subhash Chandra & Mrs. Pullela Subbaravamma and the rest of the family. During his early days, he had to struggle for basic amenities. His mother use to walk for miles to save Rs. 2 to purchase shuttles regularly for him.

She has been a pillar of strength, determination, and a big support when Gopichand was in his nascent stage of learning badminton and when he dreamed of opening an academy. He has to mortgage his family house to secure loan for opening his academy.
His mother, Mrs. Subbaravamma is still helping and supporting him by taking care of administrative responsibilities of his academy.
Gopichand’s wife, P. V. V. Lakshmi is an 8 times Indian national champion in badminton and has represented India in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She has been very supportive to Gopichand during the formation of the Gopichand Badminton Academy and even contributed to the effort of securing monetary support.
Gopichand and Lakshmi have blessed with exceptionally talented children Gayatri Gopichand and Pullela Sai Vishnu.
Gayatri has represented India at world and Asian junior championships earlier and was a part of the Indian team at 2018 Asian Games. She has earned couple of bronze & silver medals and is ready to showcase her talent into international circuit.
Sai Vishnu Pullela, the younger of Pullela Gopichand’s two children, has been all-India No 3 in singles No 1 in doubles in the Under-15 age group. An upcoming champion in making!!
